A Screening of "Women in the Dirt" Documentary took place on Monday, April 25 at Wurster Hall on the campus of UC Berkeley. "Women in the Dirt" features seven groundbreaking women in landscape architecture, two of which are local chapter members. The film is hot off the press and beginning to make the film festival rounds and the film short won an ASLA award in communications. The free screening was followed by Q&A with guests and filmmaker.
The ASLA/NCC's Annual Meeting and Professional Awards 2010 Presentation took
place Thursday, April 22, Earth Day, at SPUR, 654 Mission Street in San
Francisco. The exhibit, 49 Cities, a survey of utopian urbanism, provided a rich
visual backdrop to networking and socializing with colleagues.
Thirty-five entries were submitted for this year’s Professional Awards
Competition (15 Large Firms and 8 Small Firms in the Design Category; 4 Small
Firms in the Single Family Residence Category; 3 in the Sustainability Category;
and 5 in the Analysis, Research, Planning and Communication Category. Awards
were announced at our Annual Meeting 2010 and Presentation of Professional
Awards gathering on April 22, 2010. Congratulations to all Award recipients and
our thanks to all of the participants in this year’s Professional Awards
Competition.
