Completing Our Streets – a new book by Barbara McCann

The National Complete Street Coalition founder Barbara McCann recently released her new book entitled Completing Our Streets: The Transition to Safe and Inclusive Transportation Networks, which highlights how complete streets approaches to roadway design have multiple positive outcomes for community safety while also providing much needed transportation alternatives.

What can we do to support Complete Streets in our communities?  Here are some suggestions, from Complete Streets: Fundamentals for starting a conversation with our neighbors and local policymakers to talk about:

• schools that have no sidewalks out front,
• bus stops that are not accessible for people in wheelchairs,
• missing crosswalks by the grocery store,
• no safe routes to bicycle to work, &
• other particularly problematic & unsafe streets
