In February 2013, twenty professionals and volunteers from the American Society of Landscape Architects, the National Park Service, and the Great Shasta Rail Trail Core Team met in Sacramento, CA for a day-long design workshop. The volunteer landscape architects from the Northern California Chapter included Dave Mitchell, Chris Kent and John Stevenson.
